Bitter cold

“It’s so friggin cold – the most extreme conditions” said Joel shrugging off my Jaws sighting. “Imagine what it’s like further north, up around Oregon and Vancouver Bay?! It’s freezing, and the waves are often crap, but it’s still good! It releases all the endomorphines and stuff in your brain. They’re so hard core here though. After living and surfing here, I’ll never again take for granted surfing in warm water in boardies”. Amen to that. My ‘endomorphines and stuff’ can stay right where they are thank you.

This is from a short article i found from surfer village news. This guy was giving credit to the Cali Boys, who surf extremly cold water.

It made me think about the treat i'm in for this winter as i'll surf jax beach's freezing water. I am a south florida girl, accustomed to the nice warm gulf stream that makes west palm's water famous. it gets cold down there too, but not any where like up here. I bought a new full body wet suit and booties, but don't know if i'm even brave enough to go out on a cold day. My experice with cold weather has been once your out there for 30 minutes your body goes numb and you forget about how cold you are.

Also i am going to Cali for spring break, and will have to deal with freezing water there also. well i guess thinking about it too much will only make it worse. its just a draw back that makes it better in the end. Smiling
