Witchy

“1,2,3,4,5…” Brenna counted as she brushed her long blond hair. Brenna brushed her mane 100 times a day. She loved the attention her hair would receive in school.
“55,56,57,58…”
“Brenna, your boyfriend is here.” Brenna’s mother yelled from the bottom of the stairs. Her boyfriend always picked her up for school. She dropped her brush on her bed, grabbed her backpack, and headed out of her room. Bouncing down the stairs she tripped and fell the rest of the way. Unfortunately, she was only blessed with beauty not grace. However, she picked herself up and marched out the door.
“Hey hot stuff.” Luke said. They kissed passionately and then sped down the street.
“So, what are we doing this weekend?” Brenna asked.
“Well, I was thinking Lover’s Lane.”
“Again? It’s out anniversary, six months. Six months is like a lifetime in high school years.” Brenna whined.
“Oh, I remember.” Luke said slyly as he pulled into a parking space at school. Luke drove a car to match his popularity, a 2003 Range Rover. It was the sweetest car on campus. The black paint matched his black straight hair. He started the male hairstyle when you push it forward and then push it up in the front. Well, that’s what he claims.
Both, Luke and Brenna step out of the car and are escorted by their groupies towards the building.
“That cherry lip-gloss looks cute on you, Brenna.” Valerie, one of Brenna’s groupies said.
“Are those the new Reef sandals, man? Those look tight!” said Brendan one of Luke’s groupies.
“We know.” Brenna and Luke said together.
But just as Brenna was about to walk up the steps into the building she tripped and brought her whole clique down with it. The whole campus began to laugh, but Luke looked up and stared, at that moment the entire campus became silent. No one dared make fun of Luke’s girlfriend. She was a beauty queen for crying out loud.
The rest of the day was the same as usual; Brenna slammed her finger in her locker, spilt her milk at lunch, and tripped twice. Her carelessness had been going on for a three weeks. She went from perfection to clumsy.
“Honey, what’s been going on with you? I can’t keep giving everyone the death stare in order not to make fun of your inelegance. I want to keep my friends.” Luke said as he helped her into his range rover.
“I don’t know maybe you’ve jinxed me?” Brenna said, insulted that he implied it was her fault.
“You know that’s not true”
“Well, I used to be flawless, now I don’t know.” Brenna started to tear. She’d never been so clumsy in all her life.
Meanwhile, in the smallest house on Camino Street, Nikki was just returning home from school.
“Mom, I picked you up a pack of cigs, on the way home.” Nikki yelled as she slammed the door to her room. She threw her bag onto her bed and out fell a blonde Barbie. Nikki’s room was the model of innocence. Her walls were painted black and a Pagan alter sat in the corner. The one window was covered with black shades, and the only light she received was candlelight. Nikki was the darkest person at Riverview High and she reveled in her glory.
Nikki walked over to her alter, lit a black candle and began to chant in a dark, secretive language. A breeze began to circle her room. She was chilled for a moment then hot as fire. Once she finished her chant the Barbie was laying on the altar next to a chalice of needles. Barbie’s shirt read, “Brenna”.
Brenna fell out of Luke’s car.
“What is going on, it’s like I’m cursed or something.” Brenna exclaimed trying to get up with the help of Luke.
“Well, at least your home. I’ll tell ya, this is the worst out of the three weeks you’ve been like this. Can you even walk straight?” Luke said as he walked Brenna to the door of her home.
“Yea, ha ha, very funny. Of course, I can walk straight.” She took five slow, careful steps to the door.
“Well, ok then, I’ll see ya tonight at about eight, ok?”
“Sounds like a plan, sweetie.” They kissed for about five minutes, when the door burst open. Brenna turned and looked,
“Hello Mother.” Luke smiled weakly and walked back to his car and sped off.
On Camino Street, Nikki had been viciously poking the Barbie doll in the back of the knee with a long needle, while chanting an obscene language. In doing this she caused Brenna to fall out her boyfriend’s car.
“You deserve this wench!” She said in between spells. After about four pokes, she dropped the Barbie and began to meditate.
No one understood Nikki. She was a poor girl with a ghoulish attitude. She wore black everything and her locker was filled with pagan memorabilia. Brenna thought she was repulsive, which is probably why she enjoyed torturing her so much. Nikki snickered anytime Brenna would pass by. Brenna never could figure out why.
Brenna fell asleep the moment her head hit the pillow at eleven that night. She was exhausted from falling constantly; she also was amazed that her butt had not grown since she was falling on it so much. She attempted to get ready for her date, but when she cut herself shaving six times, Brenna called Luke and cancelled. He was extremely disappointed but understood. He had a reputation to upkeep as well.
Brenna slept deeply and began to dream. Nikki appeared at first as a baby, then a toddler, then a preteen, and finally in her present state. Each time she began to spin until her body entire body was twisted around Brenna. Their heads were forced towards each other. Nikki’s dark eyes bore deep into Brenna’s head and as she did Nikki’s hair slowly turned blond.
“Holy shit!” Brenna awoke screaming. That was the oddest dream I’d ever had in my entire life. She couldn’t sleep the rest of the night; all she could imagine was that dream and how Nikki as a blond didn’t look half bad. She actually looked fairly decent.
Nikki broke from her trance. She had given Brenna that terrifying dream in hopes that she would figure out the meaning of it. Nikki fell asleep at the foot of her altar exhausted from practicing the craft.
“Good Morning Tampa Bay!” Brenna’s alarm shouted. Shut up, she thought. Nothing is more obnoxious that someone that perky, this early. She raided her closet in order to find yet another perfect outfit. She chose, khaki mini, pink spaghetti strap top, and adorable brown shoes. This should make up for canceling our date last night, Brenna thought.
“Honk, Honk!” Brenna heard. Ugh, I don’t have time to finish brushing my hair, she thought. She looked down at her brush and pulled out some blond hair. Brenna examined it trying to figure out her dream.
“Honk, Honk!” Luke’s honks interrupted her thoughts. She raced down the stairs and out the door.
“Hey honey, I didn’t fall from my room to your car.” Brenna exclaimed.
“That’s great!”
For the first time in three weeks, Brenna and Luke entered the Building without making a scene. Both were surprised, as they cautiously walked to their biology lab.
“Good morning class, today’s lecture will be on the properties of the DNA molecule. DNA or deoxyribose nucleic acid is the genetic makeup of every organism. Its structure is known as a double helix or easily seen as a twisted ladder.” Mr. Crow droned as he held up a structure made up of colorful plastics.
Brenna stared at it, as a vision of her dream flashed into her head. The twisted scene of her and Nikki made her spine shiver. Nikki sat at the back of the classroom and stared at the back of Brenna’s blond head.
“Excuse me, Brenna aren’t you going to answer the question?” Mr. Crow said
“I’m sorry what was it again?”
“What are the four components that make up DNA molecule?”
“Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine, and Thymine.” She replied.
“Very good.” BRRRRING! The bell interrupted.
“Oh, thank goodness.” Brenna raced towards the ladies room. Once inside her pink surroundings, she threw her book bag down and began to pant into the sink. She heard a creek behind her as the door swung closed. Steps approached her.
“You look as if you just had a bad dream, Brenna.” Nikki said. Her long black hair was down and her eyes were over done with black liner. Brenna turned and looked. She looked closely at Nikki’s hair and was shocked when she noticed blond roots. Brenna returned to her normal state and turned to face her rival.
“What color is your hair Nikki?” She asked suspiciously as she began to move to the left.
“What’s it to you, ms. Perfect. Taken a few falls lately?” Nikki replied, as she began to move to her left as well. They began to circle each other.
“Maybe.” They begin to move faster, until they are levitating. Brenna for some reason is not surprised, as she gives Nikki a smirk. Both Brenna and Nikki stare into each other’s green eyes and begin to spin making a whirlwind of toilet paper. Both girls were straight as arrows as they spun in the air; the only thing that moved was their hair.
Finally, Brenna blinked and the wind stopped and both girls fell to the ground. They lie unmoving for a moment, until they heard the door creek. Valerie, Brenna’s groupies walked in and saw Brenna and Nikki lying across from one another, covered in paper towels and toilet paper. Nikki stirred and Valerie looked.
“AHHHHHHHHHH!” Valerie screamed and ran away.
“What’s her problem?” Brenna said, as she lifted her head. “Oh, now I know why.” Nikki’s hair had returned to its blond roots and looked just as good as Brenna’s.
Through the experience of floating, they learned who they truly were. Brenna’s dream began to make sense. What she learned in Biology confirmed that the twisting was meant to mean DNA and the blond hair was to show how much they looked alike. They were sisters.
“Good thing you’re smarter than you look, Brenna.” Nikki stated as she helped Brenna to her feet.
Nikki left her dark ways, however continued to practice her craft along with her sister Brenna. No one ever understood why she suddenly began to hang out with Nikki. Luke ended up staying with her, his popularity only dropped a few points and he could live with that. Brendan, Luke’s groupie asked out Nikki, and they all became inseperable.

Your idea of this story is very true. I enjoyed reading it and it also made a lot of sense because this is nit only seen I movies but also in the halls of high schools. Your story had a lot of reality to it something that a lot of people are afraid of using and it put me in a zone where I felt that I was watching a movie. I really enjoyed it. Good job.
