A little creation called the Web

In John Seely Brown’s article,Growing Up Digital , he relates the invention of the web to that of electricity, which is a great analogy. John Seely Brown talked about how the invention of electricity changed everything from entertainment, when people ate and went to bed, just as we do nowadays with the web. Many nights I find myself online until the wee hours of the night/next morning.

Every word he says is true, or at least in my opinion. The mere fact that the web has just begun and has endless possibilities is so true. Growing up into a technological age as such has vastly helped me advance not only intellectually, but creatively as well.

Without the web I probably would not the student I am today. I rely on the web on an everyday basis to do everything from homework to talk to people far away online. The children of the future will have even greater opportunities due the rapid development of Internet capabilities.

By the time I have kids of my own we’ll probably have a vast amount of jobs centered around the web, which will create great opportunities for those who have grown up in such a technological age.

In the olden days, people would learn mostly from books, and it would turn out to be costly to some. With the web, nowadays, people can just read information online and sort of teach themselves. Sadly this might destroy my future, because I plan on becoming a teacher, and if the web keeps progressing, as it is I may be out of a job in twenty years. I believe the web will become so big that there will no longer be a need for teachers or professors, or it may eliminate the need for classrooms and allow teaching online through teachers teaching in the comfort of their own homes. Who knows, we’ll just have to wait and see.

It is strange how much our lives today depend on the web and i think you mention alot about that. I find myself looking up things i would have never known without the internet and most people this day in age feel that way too. This article did have good analogies with the olden invention of electricity, that gave a deeper prespective into the whole idea of the web. Good examples/
