ENC 1101-B3 & B4: Writing for Discovery

The town where I live has an old haunted mansion. Or at least that is what everyone says. I am thinking about going to the old mansion tonight, so I am going to do a little investigating pertaining to the factual history of the house.

This weekend I journeyed to the forbidden. I went down to “The Swamp” with one of my best friends to stay for the game. I was staying in my friend’s boyfriend’s apartment and sleeping on the couch (that is what you call a fan). The week started out smoothly with Thanksgiving and all and then came Friday. I was scheduled at work on Friday at 7:00am for the biggest shopping day of the year. I didn’t leave the cash register until 2:00 that afternoon, but that wasn’t the problem.

When writing this portfolio draft I took advantage of the Reading and Writing center for students use. I meet with a TA and went over my paper. He gave me a lot of good ideas that I think have helped this paper to bloom in the long run.

The old Stonybrook House is located about half a mile from my High School. If I turn right past the old Piggly Wiggly and take it straight for about two blocks I should find it, at least that’s what they all say…

The revision assignment for this paper was a lot easier than writing in third person. I am really glad that we had to write in third person first and then go back and do this.

I had a lot of ideas for this paper and took more time than the first draft. I used some of the techniques that were shared with us through Ede. I have found that when writing my drafts it is good to go back after sleeping on it and correct the errors. I could have used a lot more dialogue and I also believe that it maybe is to long. The reason why I kept it long is because I like to have a lot to cut out and this draft will need some of that.

This week and this weekend have been some of the most trying days for me since school has started. Last Wednesday I broke up with my boyfriend of two years and it was the hardest thing that I have had to do in a while. He just wasn’t doing the right boyfriendy things to do anymore and we had grown apart.

This paper was a neat experience and I hope that with some revision I can make this into a great story. I didn’t really have any good ideas for this paper but once I sat down to write it they all followed. I have a hard time with the transition and organization but in this paper I think that the Longman Handbook has helped me out a lot in the last few weeks.

Bang, as the boulder came falling down the stairs and hit the floor leaving a huge hole. She ran for her life, thinking it was headed straight for her.

She was a twelfth grader at a near High School and was trapped in this haunted house. Her name was Sarah and she was about 5’4 inches, blonde with blue eyes. Sarah and her friend, Erin thought it would be funny if they took a trip over to the old haunted house on Newbury Street one day after a football game. Their High School rivals had just beat their team and they thought that it would be exciting.

The Tallahassee Fair is in town at the North Florida Fair Grounds and I would suggest going just for the experience. I have lived in Tallahassee my whole life and not quite been able to figure out where they find these people to run these machines. For those of you that have not been out there yet, get prepared.

The world is at a fast pace, changing speed and in order to keep up with it you must learn the generation of technology. Growing Up Digital is important because it does bring into a good perspective the meaning of our generation and the technological advances we have had the opportunity to experience.

One of my friends had a very traumatic experience tonight and I thought that I would write about it to warn anyone else. She has her grandmother’s handicapped parking pass and she decided that after looking for parking last night she would use it and park really close to our dorm. Not such a good idea. We have 9:30 class in our dorm and she peeked out to look for her car around 10:45 when class got over. It was still there and unharmed.

This revision assignment was the worst. I probably should have picked a different topic, had I known we were going to have to do this, I probably would have. I don’t know a whole lot about the other side of my argument, although there is one it was hard to think in the other direction. My topic is very hard to think of pertinent, good, substantial ideas over and that was very difficult to get through.
