ENC 1101-B3 & B4: Writing for Discovery

Well this semester is over and I just wanted to dedicate one of my journals saying goodbye to everyone in our English class. It has been real "blogging" with all of you. And getting to know each of you through your writing.

Today was a nice relaxing day. I had no classes because the only class I have today was cancelled! Yay! Anyway, all I had to do was wake up around noontime and take a math quiz and get my portfolio together and turn it in.

Living In The Past

“KAT!” “Wake up, you are going to be late!”
“Ugh I’m coming Mom”

For the longest time the only thing I’ve known was the feel of ballet shoes around my tired feet, and the smell of the wood from the dance floor. But today I am determined to trade in my point shoes for some cleats and some shin guards. This would only cause drama between Mom and I but I don’t care! I am going to skip this audition and go for soccer tryouts.

“KAT!” “Wake up, you are going to be late!”
“Ugh I’m coming Mom”

Yay, I'm going home today! I'm so excited because I'm surprising my family. They don't think I'll be home until like around twelve tonight. But I'm leaving around fourish so they will be surprised to see me early.

I used a lot of what my group members suggested that I change and they gave a ton of really good feedback that helped me write the revision and I liked where I went with it. I changed it up totally and just made the reader go what? So I think it works well with my story. But let me know what you think about the ending. That's where I changed it up. I also added in a little bit more of emotional stuff about the father.

I'm sure as most of us are, I am really nervous about my exams. Not because they are horrible to take but because both of the exams I have to take, could either make or break my grade for those classes.

Thanksgiving is my second most favorite time of year and the fact that it is just around the corner, is so exciting for me! I love to be around my family and all the great food, it's just a feeling that can never be replaced.

When I revised this draft I thought about my main character and used an inside voice to tell her story. I made a lot the story more detailed because when reading the first draft I realized that it lacked a lot of understanding. So i added a lot of needed information to the story. I think I displayed the main character's feelings pretty well and unraveled the story nicely. It makes for a good short story. I really like the ending as well because you don’t know what’s going to happen so you just kind of have to use your imagination. I took that from reading a lot of short stories in high school, and many of them just dropped off and leave you to imagine what the end is like. So I really liked that idea and went with it. I might change it when I revise this draft again but I'm not sure yet. If you have any comments about whether I should leave that or change it let me know! And any other opinions or questions or ways to make it better, I'd love to hear about it!

Today is the most important day of my young life. It would be the day that could decide the rest of my future. My name is Kat and I am seventeen-years-old and a junior in high school. I don’t normally like to talk about this but you must know that my entire life revolves around dance!

For this exploratory I found it really easy to write, but it took me awhile to come up with something I could write about. But i really like the idea for my story. I know I ended it kind of awkward but it's because next time when I work with it, I'm going to keep going with it so it might not make sense right now.

I really don't know what to talk about in this journal. In fact, I'm really not even in the mood to be typing. I'm actually really tired but I have to get ready to go to eat so I'm trying to write before I leave! Because for some reason I always forgot to type these journals.

I'm going to see the Matrix tonight and I'm not that huge of a fan. I mean I'm not like religious about it or anything like some people seem to be. I saw the second one and I didn't really care too much for it.
