ENC 1101-B3 & B4: Writing for Discovery

Two weeks left of school. There is two weeks left in the fall semester and it is great. I fell great that I am getting my 1st semester over with and that it went well. It was a very exciting semester with a lot of things going on like football and parties.

It is 6:30 a.m. and the boats have just started up all of thier motors to begin checking out for the second day of the SKA National Kingfish Tournament. There was about 400 boats in the tournament and all of them would be looking for the biggest kingfish they could find that would help add on to there fish they caught the day before.

This week in football was half great. To start off with the great part our Seminoles beat the Gators. Although the officiating was a little rough you can not say that decided the game. At first Rix was scaring me, well the whole game he was except the final drive when he drove down the field and the connected with P.K. Sam for the game winning touchdown. Which was a good throw but a great catch. Now the Noles have complete their first 10 win season since 2000 and we are looking at the Rose Bowl right now which would be great.

In this Portfolio Draft I used the paper about the fishing tournament that we won back in the spring. But in this one I changed it around a little bit. I used the theme of a fishing tournament but it was a different one.

Alright, this week in college football for the Florida State Seminoles was an idle week. The had their 2nd bye week in the perfect time, the week before they play long time rival Florida Gators. The Gators started off pretty bad but with their new quarterback stepping up they have beat some good teams in the past 5 weeks. The Noles better come ready to play this week or the outcome will not be good.

This past weekend I had the chance to go to Biloxi and fish in the SKA National Kingfish Tournament, and it was a blast. There was over 400 boats in the tournament and all of the boats in the tournament were spectacular. There was about 20-40 boats that would price out around $180,000 and many more just below that. Now that you know about the boats, how about the fishing. The fishing was probably better than all of the boats. We fished 2 days and the biggest fish from both days were added together and the team with the highest total after the 3 days won.

In this second draft of exploratory D we had to change some of the story. First we had to make it first person instead of 3rd and we had to make it present instead of past. By doing this I feel the story changed for the better. I think it made it sound more personalized and it sound a little better too. I also think it was a little easier to write this time. I also feel that a story told in 1st person displays more feeling an allows the reader to relate to them also. If you feel that there is some things missing in the order of the revision assignment please let me know.

It is 5 a.m. Saturday morning and I just got woke up by my dad. It took me a while to get out of bed since I am not use to waking up as early as was did, but there was a good reason for it. My day and I along with one of his friends and his son where in a fishing tournament this weekend. So in order to get everything loaded onto the boat and make the check out time we had to get up early.

Well this week in the football season was a bad one. To start off with the Noles, they won but it should not have gone into double overtime. We should have beat them in the 1st half but again questions are coming up about our offensive coordinator. But the good news we won the ACC for who know how many years straight. So now that guarantees us a good Bowl Game. Next week the Noles will have a bye week then they will play instate rival Florida Gators.

This weekend I went down back home again for another fishing tournament and a Buvcs game. And I would have to say that it could have been better. First off on my way home I got pulled over because my windows on my car are to dark then when he asked for my registration I could not find it. But fortunately the police guy was nice and just let me off with a warning. Then the bucs go and lose again which is now going to be pretty hard to make it to the playoffs.

In this draft for the exploratory D paper we had to write a short story. So I took something I was familiar with and made a story about this group of guys winning a fishing tournament and they excitement that they had and some of the ups and down of there day. I am trying to get the reader to try to feel what they are felling as the day goes on in the story and the nervousness that they had when wait for the tournament to end. I hope that the reader can also feel the excitement of bring in a big fish and know that you are going to win something.

It was Saturday about 5:00 in the morning and everyone in the Miller house was already awake and getting ready for a big day. John and his son Adam with two of his friends would be fishing in one of their first kingfish tournaments ever and they were all very excited about it. John went downstairs to make sure everything they would need is ready to go while Adam and his mother where fixing the sandwiches for lunch. After they said all said goodbye John and Adam went down to the boat which already had all of the fishing equipment in it.

Well to startt off with this week recap of how the Bucs and Noles did I have to say that both teams need some help. With the Noles first, they lost to Clemson 26-10 and Bobby Bowden’s son beat him for the first time ever. They played horrible, now a lot of people are very upset with our offensive coordinator and our quarterback and one of those people is me. Next week the Noles play NC State at home for FSU homecoming wich they better win.

Another crazy weekend this was. First I went home Friday morning for a fishing tournament. So on Friday we went out and got bait and everything went pretty smoothly except for the waves. Then on Saturday morning we go out fishing and catch a couple of small fish and weigh the biggest one in. The fish ends up being 12.24 bounds which is enough to keep us in tenth place over all and the top 10 go to nationals. But it is a 2 day tournament.
