An Inferno: Final

The smoke trail from the burning oil could be seen for miles. They were lucky that the German planes decided not to follow them any further, because their B-29 was already bullet laden. As the plane glided down, Captain Williams yelled to the crew, “Brace yourselves this one’s gonna be rough!” When the plane crashed the sound of the metal scraping against the ground was deafening as the crew was flung around the inside of the plane like rag dolls. Covered in a cloud of dust, the crew of the B-29 quickly piled out before the leaking fuel ignited, and their plane exploded in the middle of the Italian pasture.
Reflecting

At the beginning of this semester I looked at writing in a completely different manner than I do now. At the beginning of the semester I absolutely hated having to write any sort of paper even the blogs. As the semester went on I guess I got used to having to do all this writing that I had not been used to doing in high school. Now at the end of the semester I have begun to look at writing in a completely different manner. Instead of having an absolute hatred of writing, it is now just an annoyance that can even sometimes be fun when I get to write about something that I am interested in.
Never enough time to study
Written by DHW03 on December 3, 2003 - 16:52
This is supposed to be "dead week," but this week is not dead by any means to be at all. The fact that I having something everynight that I have to do since I am a pledge is really cutting into the time I need to study for my exams next week.

Thanksgiving

You know, at first I really did not want to come to FSU. This week though has showed me another reason why deciding to stay in town and go to FSU is not such a bad decision.

While everyone else has to travel home, and drive 2, 3, 4, and even 5 plus hours to get home, I am only about 15- 20 minutes away. So pretty much they have to come to rather than me having to go to them to visit.
Drunk Parents

This weekend’s Elton Jonh concert was by far one of the best conerts that I have ever been to. Considering how many people that are around my parents age that were there, I was really surprised at how much fun I did have.
An Inferno: 3rd draft

An Inferno: Process Memo 3rd

The strengths of this draft come from the fact that I tried to combine parts of the first and second drafts from Exploratory D. “Jimmy had been in Italy for five months and he still was not used to his friends dieing. “People say you get used to friends dieing, but gettin’ used to people dieing is somethin’ I hope I never get used to. The guys, who do, walk around with blank stares, like there is no one there.”
Elton John

This weekend I got a ticket for the Elton John concert, and I am really excited about it. Also the fact that one of my good friends is coming back in town for the concert is even better.

The one thing that sucks about going to the concert though is that I had to pay $83 of my own money for the tickets. The way that I look at it though is that this is probably the only time that I will probably be able to see Elton in concert. So the expense for me to go to the concert is well worth it.
Registering
Written by DHW03 on November 19, 2003 - 11:21
Since I did not come into FSU with and college credit, I finally got to register for classes today. So after spending an hour trying to get logged into the system, I realized that maybe I should have taken a couple of AP’s.
Process Memo: Inferno 2nd draft
Written by DHW03 on November 18, 2003 - 09:51
I think that one of the major strengths of this draft is the fact that it is in the first person. Since I am using actually journal entries, I think that this assignment lends itself better to the sources that I am using. Also these journal entries give my draft some facts and feeling about actually events that I can change as needed in order to fit my narrative. Another strength I feel is the fact that by being able to mix facts with fantasy, I was able to just let my imagination run wild, and make up events that are loosely based on true events.

“Hit solid, out board props gone, then #4 engine breaks out (in flames), then the #3 prop, lost left landing gear…lost speed, wing dropped, ground spin, right wing off, landing gear through wing, stopped cloud of dust, inside black, everyone piled out, able to walk, rather run, when you think about 1800 gal of gas, with fire in #4…5 miles from field yet took 2 hours for anyone to get there. 25 tons of metal at 100 mph sho’ does plow up Italian dirt,” writes Army Air Corp gunner Sergeant Jimmy Henry, about the safe landing of his badly damaged B-29.
ATF
Written by DHW03 on November 14, 2003 - 01:12
Last night was one of the worst nights this week. My fraternity had booked this really great band, Whild Peaches, but our band party got busted by ATF right as it was starting. So when he had about six girls form the sorority that was with us and one brother get MIPs. It kinda ruined the night. As soon as everyone realized though that there as an ATF guy there, you just see everyone scatter.
Process Memo: Inferno

I feel that the strengths of my draft come from the fact that I used journal entries from my grandfather who was a gunner in a B-29 during world war too, “Able #1 got a direct hit at the base of left wing. Immediately burst into solid flame, wing buckled up…..” So these entries really allowed me and the reader to know how he felt, and what exactly he experienced during his tour. Also the fact that World War II is one of my favorite history topics too is strength, because I am able to pull little bits of the things that I have seen, and adapt them to my story.
